About

For years, I balanced an intense executive career, motherhood, friendships, and a million expectations. I did it all and fully believed I deserved that glass of wine every night. It helped me relax and unwind.

But the truth? It slowly disconnected me from myself, from joy, and from the things I loved most. Add in perimenopause and my life was slowly heading in a direction I did not like.

In my early fifties, I gave up wine- first as a bet with my son when he left for the Air Force, and then as a decision that changed everything. What started as a challenge became a doorway back to my health, energy, and determination. I began to see what I couldn’t before- how often we use alcohol to numb stress, burnout, and anxiety. Especially for women juggling careers and motherhood.

These days you will find me obsessed with Hot Barre and yoga classes, training for my first marathon, learning to shuffle dance (because why not?) and finally writing about my experiences after being encouraged by so many. I am working from home for the first time in my life after decades in behavioral health leadership, and I am learning to measure success by peace over constant crises.

This blog, Jennifer Unwined, is about all of this- sobriety, midlife, movement, and meaning. How our bodies change, relationships shift, and purpose evolves.

If you have ever wondered who you might be without the nightly glass, endless grind, or constant pressure to do it all, you are in the right place.

Life after wine isn’t boring- it is honest, open, and fun, even at 5:00 in the morning on a Saturday.
